I am proud and honored to serve as the Board Chair for Safe Haven. The work we do is important to the families and children with which we work and the community in which we serve.  As the only shelter-to-housing program in Middle Tennessee that accepts the entire homeless family, Safe Haven provides much more than just a place to stay. Families receive financial education, therapy, debt reduction education, essential academic and developmental tools for their children, and—most of all—the opportunity to, once again, secure a place to call home.  We do not simply give families a “hand out” – but rather a true “hand up” to help them break the cycle of homelessness.

Our staff consists of passionate advocates who are experts in the field and work tirelessly in our mission to empower homeless families with children to achieve lasting self sufficiency. Our Board is engaged and committed. And we have more than 1,000 active volunteers who serve meals, tutor children, provide administrative services and more. This year Safe Haven, with the support of our corporate and community partners, launched a shelter expansion and renovation to “Widen Our Welcome” by doubling the capacity of our shelter so that we can help more than twice as many people climb to the same successes.

For these reasons and many more, I am asking you to join me in supporting Safe Haven. It may sound cliché to say this is the season for giving. But for Safe Haven Family Shelter, this couldn’t be more true. We count on holiday and year end donations to not only make the holidays bright for our families, but also to help us provide the needed shelter and comprehensive services. In the coming days you will receive our holiday letter, email and see our posts on social media all asking you to donate to Safe Haven before the end of the year. Please take time to make a gift to Safe Haven. Every dollar counts and will make a positive impact on the lives of the children and their families at Safe Haven.

Below I have outlined several giving options. We appreciate your generous spirit and relentless advocacy. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of homeless families.

•    Make a donation online (or by check) to Safe Haven: Your gift of $500, $250, $100 or any amount can make all the difference in ensuring that homeless children and their families have a home this holiday and throughout the year.
•    Become a Guardian Angel: Make a difference in the life of a homeless family with children by becoming a Guardian Angel member. Join at the Silver ($1,000), Gold ($3,000), Platinum ($6,000) or Diamond ($10,000) level. Each level makes a positive impact on a family completing our shelter or transitional housing programs. Individual donors as well as groups and corporations are encouraged to participate.
•    Blessings with Bows: Make a donation to Safe Haven in honor of your clients, coworkers, friends and family. Donate $10 or more, and we will send the recipient an electronic card recognizing your donation in his or her name. Makes a great corporate gift.
