Team Up for the 12th Annual Hike for the Homeless

Safe Haven Family Shelter is gearing up for the Hike for the Homeless, a Nashville favorite for its heavy dose of outdoor time, friends, family, food and fun. Our goal? $115,000! “Give With A Purpose” A Poverty Simulation

Newsletter Image poverty simulationSafe Haven and Catholic Charities are teaming up through the Family Empowerment Program to host a new event called “Give with A Purpose.”The event takes place November 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Catholic Charities and includes a light breakfast and poverty simulation. Family Day at Fontanel

Picture1On Sunday, September 11, Safe Haven families in Council District 3 had a grand time at Family Fun Day at Fontanel. The event was sponsored by CORE (Community Organized Renewal Efforts), a group  in district 3 comprised of churches, businesses, Nashville Metro Police, the Neighborhood Resource Center and Councilwoman Brenda Haywood’s office. CORE sponsored this event to bring the community together to be informed about needs of the families and to make connections with resources in the neighborhood. (Read more…)

 Re3 Coaching Initiative Receives Award from NPT

Csb1do2WcAAJX6gOn September 15, Alignment Nashville’s Re3 Coaching Initiative was honored as an American Graduate Champion by Nashville Public Television. Judy Lewis (Safe Haven Education Specialist) and Glen Biggs (Alignment Nashville Senior Associate Director) were honorees that night and were given a chance to talk about the initiative to community leaders. Other guests in attendance included: Jeff Yarbro (Tennessee State Senator), Laura Moore (Mayor’s Office Education Liaison) and Kevin Crane (NPT Vice President). (Read more…)

Workforce Development Program Partners with Employers for Success

Client 1 & 2 Progress Chart for Q3 NewsletterSafe Haven continues to expand our workforce development program through partnerships with employers. LetterLogic is an integral partner who works with us to hire Safe Haven clients through the “Jump Start Employment Program.” This partnership gives interview and work experience to Safe Haven clients, allowing them to jump start their employment and seek opportunities. This collaborative program provides a wage model that at once allows employees to sustain and build income. (Read more…)
