ANNIVERSARIES: A TIME TO CELEBRATE

SHAELLA’S STORY: MOVING FORWARD

2014-05-18 013As an Education Specialist at Safe Haven, I have the privilege of working with many of our children, ensuring that they have access to adequate resources and opportunities to succeed in school. One student I’ve had the pleasure of working with in the past year, Shaella, is now a graduate of Antioch High School and will be attending Oakwood University in the fall to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. Her family, including four brothers and sisters and both parents, were part of our emergency shelter program and are now in our transitional housing program. SUPPORT CIRCLES: REBUILDING COMMUNITY FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES

support circle graphicWhile there are many “causes” of homelessness, everyone who experiences homelessness has experienced a loss of support networks in their lives for one reason or another. If a person’s homelessness is caused, in part, by the lack of community, then part of the solution is rebuilding community around that person. CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF HIKE FOR THE HOMELESS

Safe Haven 100K FINAL 7-10-2014Mark your calendars. The Hike for the Homeless is November 8. We will be celebrating 10 YEARS of Hiking for the Homeless! This event is so much more than a hike. With food, children’s activities and live music, it is the best family event of the fall! In honor of our 10th Annual Hike for the Homeless, we are setting a goal to raise $100,000. We hope you will join us as we kick off our campaign, “$100K in 100 Days!” As you sign up and raise money, join us on social media to tell us about it. We want to see your short videos, pictures and more of you joining us for “$100K in 100 Days.” We will have pop up prizes and fun stuff along the way. On your mark, set…. GO!
