Volunteer Training

IMG_4229We encourage interested volunteers to first attend one of our monthly Lunch and Learns before signing up for training. The Lunch and Learns give a basic introduction to Safe Haven and provide an overview of our work, programs and volunteer opportunities. Click here to see a calendar listing of Lunch and Learns and to sign up to attend.

We ask Safe Haven volunteers to complete training  so they are prepared and well-equipped to serve Nashville’s homeless families. Volunteers who will have direct interaction with our clients are required to  attend a Volunteer Training Session. All volunteers will be asked to complete a volunteer application and some volunteer positions will require a background check.

In the volunteer training, we discuss areas such as:

  • Mission and core values of Safe Haven

  • Volunteer position description (role, expectations, resources, etc.)

  • Trauma-Informed Care and working with families in trauma

  • Risk Management

Our volunteer training sessions are scheduled for the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Please click a date below to sign up for training. Note that the April 19th training is on a Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
