Some require a background check and mandatory training.]

Hospitality/ Dinner Team:

Become a hospitality volunteer! Groups of friends, families, civic groups, corporations and faith-based organizations provide meals for our families 365 days a year for up to 40 residents at a time. Meal Requirements and Information: Hospitality volunteers are responsible for the purchase and preparation of evening meals. Meals can be prepared at home and brought in, or prepared in our kitchen onsite. We ask that the meals include an entrée, two vegetable dishes, dessert and drinks (milk for children and sweet tea / juice / for adults). Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and concludes around 7 p.m. The volunteer manager will contact volunteers 3 to 5 days in advance to confirm the number of residents that will be present for dinner.

We need help with our front desk, which includes answering phones, greeting guests and other administrative tasks. We need help on an “on call basis.” We also need regular help on Mondays or Wednesdays for a few hours between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. There is a one to two hour training for this role typically held on a Tuesday or a Thursday (hours are flexible).

We will, on occasion, have group projects available and will post those opportunities here. If none are listed here, please consider signing up to provide a meal for our families (see description above). Please feel free to suggest a project idea by emailing us. Unfortunately, we are not typically able to accommodate large groups. [Note: We always need volunteers to help with the Hike for Homeless, which takes place in early November each year. Please click here for more information.]

We always need volunteers to help us with our signature events. Click here to view information about volunteering for the Hike for the Homeless, which takes place in early November each year.

Children’s Program:

We often need volunteers to provide childcare and/or fun activities for children. These shifts are in the afternoons and evenings. Volunteer Training is mandatory for this volunteer opportunity. Please visit our Volunteer Training page to sign up for the next training.

S.H.I.N.E. Program (health and wellness):

Our SHINE program takes place every Thursday from 6:45 – 8 p.m. This is a time for volunteers with the required expertise to provide a health and wellness based session/class with our residents. This is an opportunity that serves both kids and adults. If you would prefer adults or children we are able to accommodate that. Please note you must have a license or a certification
