We encourage interested volunteers to first attend one of our monthly Lunch and Learns before signing up for training. Attending a Lunch and Learns will provide a basic introduction to Safe Haven and an overview of our work, programs and volunteer opportunities. Click here to sign up to attend a Lunch and Learn.

We ask Safe Haven volunteers to also complete the volunteer training so they are prepared and well-equipped to serve Nashville’s families experiencing homelessness. Volunteers who will have direct interaction with our clients are required to attend a Volunteer Training Session. All volunteers will be asked to complete a volunteer application and some volunteer positions will require a background check.
In the volunteer training, we discuss areas such as:

  • Mission and core values of Safe Haven

  • Volunteer position description (role, expectations, resources, etc.)

  • Trauma-Informed Care and working with families in trauma

  • Risk Management

The dates of our volunteer training sessions are listed below in the form to RSVP. The dates are all Saturdays and the time for each date is 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
