We encourage interested volunteers to first attend one of our monthly Lunch and Learns before signing up for training. Attending a Lunch and Learns will provide a basic introduction to Safe Haven and an overview of our work, programs and volunteer opportunities. Click here to sign up to attend a Lunch and Learn. (Note: our in-person lunch and learns have been canceled for the remainder of 2020. Please email Emily for more information.)

We ask Safe Haven volunteers to also complete the volunteer training so they are prepared and well-equipped to serve Nashville’s families experiencing homelessness. Volunteers who will have direct interaction with our clients are required to attend a Volunteer Training Session. All volunteers will be asked to complete a volunteer application and some volunteer positions will require a background check.
In the volunteer training, we discuss areas such as:

  • Mission and core values of Safe Haven

  • Volunteer position description (role, expectations, resources, etc.)

  • Trauma-Informed Care and working with families in trauma

  • Risk Management

The dates of our volunteer training sessions are listed below in the form to RSVP. The dates are all Saturdays and the time for each date is 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

For more information about our volunteer training and opportunities, please email us.

Please note that our in-person volunteer trainings for the remainder of 2020 are canceled. Please email Emily for more information on virtual training and ways to volunteer.
